I write software, cook, take photos, and travel. Currently living in Paris, I've lived and loved in San Francisco, Atlanta, and Mobile AL.

Born and raised in Germany near Frankfurt, I spent many of my formative years in the deep and not-so-deep American south. After graduating from Georgia Tech and enjoying Atlanta, GA to the fullest, I followed my heart and moved west with one suitcase, modest savings, and a part-time contracting gig. In San Francisco I found my first hometown, precarious and aware of its faults but thriving, its residents living for and savoring every day. There is stuff for computer nerding, artistic presumption, and nature-bound relaxation within reach - I insist you pay a visit if you have not. I lived in the Mission district, and worked at Slide Google in the industrial-trendy SoMa (south of market) district after co-founding Deluux with my friend Paul McKellar through ycombinator.
Google gave me the opportunity to move to Paris, where I reside with my gorgeous and brilliant fiancee Julia Kuznetsov. Paris offers in history tenfold what splendor San Francisco holds in nature. Although I have only lived here for two weeks at the time of this writing, I am planning on staying here until the end of 2013 and gaining a unique perspective on western history and philosophy.
My first computer was an Atari 1040STf: This machine taught me basic english (no I18N, no german docs) and Basic, the programming language. Since then I've grown intimate (and estranged) with Windows, Linux and OS X, in that order. I get back at them by telling them what to do: mostly in Python, Javascript, Objective C and Java. Although I love the science and challenge of hardware design (I have a degree in Computer Engineering from Georgia Tech) I've been seduced by the cheapness and quick cycles of software development. Professional work occupies about 95% of my mindspace at the moment, but I try to reserve a few hours on weekends to dabble in extracurricular mind-bending activities. Currently I am passively toying with:
